Poker slowly but surely becomes a favorite entertainment game, especially in America. Hold'em tournaments are daily broadcasted over various TV channels. We can all see the professional players cards but we can also see the way they play with chips. Of course there are some that do not do this at all but others used as if they have been sitting at the playing table for a lifetime. They scramble them, they hold them between they fingers, and they toss them in the air and then catch them back. And they do it naturally, or at least they don’t look as they are paying much attention at what they are doing.

There can be found various reasons for which some players perform these chip tricks. Let’s go over some of them:

1. Their attitude at the playing table.

Someone that plays with chips consistently gives the impression that he was playing poker the moment he was born, a true expert – this way he can control the game and his opponents better.

2. Stress relief.

Just like others have various habits for stress relief , kicking their feel, moving their hands around, so is the chip trick – a way to make all that negative energy go away. Poker is a stressful game, especially at the begging of a tournament or after a bad hand. There’s not much to do during tournament. A player can stand up and go to take a drink and that’s about it. A clever way for players to forget the stress or the last hand lost is to play with chips.

3. Intimidating the opponent.

We can meet many beginners that just give up good hands after they are intimidated by players that master impressively the chips in front of them. The psychological factor in poker is much more important than in any other cards game. If you look as if you grew up with poker, you will gain respect and you will realize that many rival give up playing with you just thinking that you would win anyway. The trust you show and chips tricks affect the others’ decision and the game itself.

4. Gaining the respect of the casino’s staff.

If you don’t look like a beginner you will have more chances to be treated differently and remembered.

5. Staying focused.

The tournaments are a marathon and chip tricks help players to stay focused at the playing table, allowing them to forget of other needs or desires.

6. The envy of others.

Learning to do chip tricks is like riding a bicycle. After you get it, you’ll never forget. People watching you are thrilled and they wish they knew how to do it.

7. The PROs do it.

Regardless of the game or sports, everybody wants to imitate the experts and stars.

8. Protections against cheaters.

It actually happens very rarely, but sometimes mostly at home or at a club you can come across people that cheat or try to cheat. Seeing your chip tricks they might think you are a true expert and you will soon discover that they want to cheat, so they will give that thought up.
