If you need to have solid results from your marketing campaigns, print ads are still one of the most effective means to launch your business. They may be old-fashioned with the emergence of online marketing; nevertheless, print ads still provide end results that you need to grow your business.

Here are some types of print advertising that you most probably heard about or even tested once or twice before but never tried again because of the Internet. Knowing their benefits and drawbacks can help you choose the most appropriate print ad for your goals and objectives for your business.

1 – Newspaper / Newsletter Marketing

The benefit of having your ad in newspapers or even your local newsletter printing materials is that these types of print media is so flexible that they can actually be adapted to the kind of target market you want. Having them printed daily, you’re assured that your target audiences would be able to see you regularly and hence, keep you in your target market’s vision and minds.

The drawback however, is that not everybody subscribes to a newspaper, less with marketing newsletters. If your target are people at 30 or even younger, you’d be wasting your time and money if you put your ad in newspapers as this group are less likely to read the papers or even think of subscribing to it.

2 – Magazine Marketing

Unlike the newspapers, the quality of magazines, especially with the paper used, is much higher. In fact, ads look better in magazines than in newspapers or any other advertising newsletters. With magazines, you can also zero in on your market because these print ads help you to aim your message and ideas to a specific ‘vertical market’.

The downside? They’re definitely more expensive to produce from the paper alone. Depending on your color printing needs, your magazine can fetch a whopping six figures, including the distribution and your reading public.

3 – The Yellow Pages

Even before the advent of digital technology, people are most likely to look for contact information in the Yellow pages than anywhere else. The printing cost is an advantage because it’s lower than most newspapers and magazines.

However, the Yellow Pages have lost its appeal when the World Wide Web started to tickle the fancy of everyone, particularly those who are under 35. They’d rather go online and get google to find the information for them than scour the entire print ad before you could even identify what you’re looking for.

Even with internet advertising gaining popularity fast, there’s no denying the capability of print ads to generate the leads you need. So don’t discount the value of your print ads.
