With each New Year, we reflect on the things that we haven’t achieved yet. These are the things that if we did do, we would be happy. It may be making more money or losing weight. Whatever it is, you’ve made yourself a promise that this is the year that you will achieve it. And for those of you who haven’t participated in the making and breaking of resolutions, play along…
Let’s focus on the new home business you have been planning to start for a while but now you can finally get into. There are a few takeaway points I want you to leave with…
1. Do your research.
You may know what kind of business you want to start, but have no clue about that industry. It may just be something that you are curious, interested, or passionate about. Well, you need to get on the ball. Read, Read, and Read everything you can find on the subject. Purchase books, tapes, and manuals to study. Don’t make the mistake of getting “info-happy.” This is when you buy tons of stuff without even reading the first chapter of the first book. Here’s a secret: Everything you read, write it down in your own words in a journal. You cut your learning curve down versus going out and spending your money on a business without having the slightest idea of what you are doing. After a few solid months of research and testing, you can begin to make some money. After all, you didn’t walk into your job as a top executive, did you? Most importantly, learn the reasons why people fail in your type of business. Even though you’ve been in your industry for years, there is still a lot to learn.
2.Treat it as a business.
Although, you passionate about your business, you must also treat it like a business. Internet guru, Yanik Silver, works about 35 hours a week when he is launching a new product. He’s making a 7-figure income working 25 hours a week. The point is that you have to set realistic goals and then put in the time. When you have a store you post the hours of operation on the door. Do the same with your home business. Avoid the distractions from friends and family just as you would if you worked for someone. Set goals for yourself and establish a business plan. Along with your business plan, you need an action plan for the activities you plan on doing for accomplishing goals for the day, week, month, quarter, and year.
Then give the world the best you have. Unfortunately, the world will end up kicking you in the teeth. Give your best, anyway.
3.Keep your focus.
You need to know that the most important thing is finishing the race. Keep all the negativity out. Anything that is unnecessary is not worth your time. Manage your time. Manage your thoughts. Your thoughts lead to your belief. Your beliefs govern your actions. Your actions govern your results. And nothing is more important than results. Results lead to the lifestyle you want. If you are not sure what to do, then try something. When that fails, determine what went right and don’t repeat what went wrong. Then try something else and repeat this process until you succeed. Another way to find out what should be done is to imitate (in good ways) someone else. Take someone in as your mentor, preferably an expert. You can do this form a distance and they never have to know. Read their books, study everything about them, and learn what not to do from their mistakes. Focus first on what they do. Then how they do what they do. Finally, when you think you know it all, focus on why they do what they do.
4. AOMA
All Out Massive Action.
Work and work some more to get the kinks out and make some money. Don’t stop working because you don’t want to lose the momentum you gain. Have enthusiasm in what you do. It will show up in your work. I heard someone say people are more attracted to the height of your enthusiasm than the depth of your knowledge. Also, while you work, keep in mind the best way to success is to help others get what they want. If you do this enough you will eventually get what you want. Just keep you head down (working) and don’t listen to anybody that is telling you otherwise.
Learn to leverage yourself by starting your own home business. Once your profits kick in it will be well worth it. Starting your own business is no easy task. Believe in yourself and know that it is worth having your freedom. Begin this year on the right foot and please do not delay.
