Shipping lighting products is like shipping eggshells, as the bulbs lenses and components are all critical to the proper functioning of the light. Unfortunately if you have seen the way that many union carriers handle the packaging these days you would seriously want NASA to pack it for you with those giant bouncing balls they use to land the Rover on Mars. Well maybe that is an over kill although you would not believe the number of damaged lighting product accidents, which occur during shipping.

Here is an interesting tidbit on consumer redress due to inadequate controls in shipping and product durability in shipping. Lighting when shipped must be protected. All lighting product units must also be very durable, but not only for shipping, remember in the real world they will take abuse. For instance let us discuss shipping of flashlight components for final assembly. Surely the flashlights themselves will be taking a lot of abuse in the field, battlespace, neighborhood, beat, nature and trails. Hard to believe that the biggest dangers they face will be in the shipping of the products here is a perfect example;

And remember you cannot trust the regulatory bodies in our nation to attack your company if you better the efforts of entrenched businesses or if a fraudulently made claim from a consumer shows up. Trick is to build your product absolutely bullet proof that there is no way they can possibly be damaged ever, which also good because it makes the end product stronger and adds more applications for other markets. Think on this in 2006.
