According to Simmons Market Research Bureau, 91 actually purchased at trade shows. Trade shows are a way to get people to know your products and services. So a promotional giveaway with your business name on it keeps your name in front of your customers.
Trade show exhibitors tend to be most successful when they offer new products and/or services, listen to what the market is telling them, and giving away free giveaways at their booths. These giveaways are not only a good source of advertising and branding, but permit the exhibitors to interface with customers and to learn more about their business.
Selecting the best promotional giveaway is key, considering there are thousands of items and price points to choose from. You'll want to make sure your giveaway is something your customers will find useful and will enhance your business image.
Keep in mind that you will want to have 3 different types of giveaway products for the 3 different types of prospects you'll encounter at a trade show. The prospects I'm talking about are:
Those for your customers or hottest prospects;
Good prospects;
The general population or "trade show lookie loos".
Keep the higher value gifts for qualified prospects and good customers. Once the show is over and you start to do your follow-ups, that quality giveaway will make the prospect more favorable to your call.
One of the more unique trade show items I have found are imprinted sandals. Neet Feet, the originators of the "talking sole", a die-cut flip flop that acts as a walking billboard that leaves an impression in the sand, is not only unique, but is something your prospects will want and will use again and again. They offer many different styles and price points to choose from.
No matter what type of trade show giveaway or incentives you give out, none of this matters unless you establish a follow-up to those prospects. Create a tracking system so you will know who and when to contact all of those leads you receive at the trade show.
Good luck.
