Do you feel under appreciated in your current employment? Do you often feel more like a slave than a team member or respected member of the company? Do you work in a larger firm where you are nothing more than a number and if you died tomorrow you would be replaced by another human organism with a slightly different number? Have you noticed those at the top could care less about you personally and call you things like “labor” or Labor Unit, rather than person or employee? Do you feel you deserve an award because you care; yet the person next to you who doesn’t care about the company, its efficiency or its success in the least is up for promotion ahead of you? In fact you might be working for him or her in the future as your boss moves up too?
Are you stuck in your job, because you have to pay the bills, mortgage and need health care insurance for your family? Are you trapped because you need to put children thru school? Have you considered the alternative, that is to say being self-employed instead of working for someone else or a large company which does not care about you, except as a mean to and ends. Shareholders equity, quarterly profits and year over year same store sales?
Well what you may find is that being self-employed comes with it a whole new set of challenges, some, which you may not have thought of. So read up on the hardships small business people have and be careful what you wish for as it is not as easy as it looks. Think on it.
