Car Insurance Companies Applaud New Law for: Street Racing, Stunting, and Drag Racing
Auto Insurance companies, Police and citizens of Canada are very excited to see action taken. Street racing, stunting or drag racing is simply breaking the rules of society and putting lives in danger including those stupid enough to get behind the wheel for a thrill.
If you think you have coverage when you are racing; Think again because breaking the law is not covered under ones insurance policy.
The true definition of an accident is something waiting to happen that is sudden and accidental, and with street racing it is considered criminal and not forgiven.
Street Racers, Stunting and drag racing can take someone’s life including the driver of the car. The Police and citizens of Canada have been asking for something to be done about street racing, stunting and drag racing in Canada and the U.S.
Canadian government has brought forth a new amendment to Bill C19.
Since the inception of the new street-racing law, GTA police agencies announced they have seized over 4,500 vehicles and laid numerous charges. Police will adopt a zero-tolerance level with anyone caught street-racing or driving aggressively.
Street-racing and Aggressive driving are dangerous and unlawful and it is these unlawful acts that put so many innocent people at risk.
The Toronto Police suggest several ways to curb your aggression:
-do not drive when you are angry or tired,
- let other drivers merge,
- acknowledge your mistakes and wave,
- ignore rude gestures,
- give others the benefit of the doubt, poor maneuvers that affect you are not always intentional.
“If we all do our part to avoid aggressive driving and street racing, we will make our streets a safer place to drive, walk and cycle.”
Finally! On your mark get set go police go!
Racing –Bill C19 Amends Criminal Code of Canada allows Police to wreck a vehicle connected to street racing
Cars will be wrecked if connected to street racing. The Department of Justice Canada has changed Bill C19 to increase the maximum penalties when related to street racing. They quote the new law amended:
“It amends the Criminal Code to create targeted, new offences to provide enhanced maximum penalties of incarceration for the most serious street racing offences.
It also creates mandatory periods of driving prohibition for those convicted of street racing and increases the length of the driving prohibitions for repeat offenders.”
This bill has been created in order to allow Police the right to seize your vehicle on or off private property including the private property located in the vehicle if presumed the vehicle is built for racing. Bottom line is good news for innocent bystanders and bad news for speeders, racers and the likes of those people who just drive dangerously, but the unfortunate part out of all this is it is also bad news for Hot Rod enthusiasts.
The owners of antique vehicles, street rods and customized autos for showing only could run into some bad luck before the next event. These types of vehicle’s can be crushed by the police and the unfortunate thing is the police do not need proof that the vehicle has been raced. All they need is to suspect the vehicle has been, could be or will be raced.
Past, present, or future chance of racing just does not matter with the new law in place.
The Police may now confiscate the vehicle and crush it. “Michael Bryant quotes” Police Officers have the final say and give no chance for the defendant to appeal the license suspension and the impoundment.
Beware: If you think you are pimping out that ride to look cool, the Police are on to this and could charge you even if you have done nothing wrong. Therefore, some consumers may be guilty before the chance to be proven innocent.
