Alternative article : A Successful Cure for Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia

As a GP Dr David Mickel felt helpless when he was faced with the many many people suffering with the debilitating symptoms labelled as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia or ME. This frustration led to detailed medical and complementary health research until Dr Mickel had developed a treatment that has now successfully treated over 400 people with these symptoms back to normal health.

In Mickel Therapy’s treatment, one of the basic premises is the existence of the body-mind or body’s intelligence. Our body literally has the ability to think by itself without any involvement from the brain (or head). It is your body’s job to protect you. It does this by constantly assessing everything going on within you and around you. Its job is then to find a way to communicate what it thinks to you. Now since it can’t talk in words – it uses feelings that you experience as sensations or e-motions in your body. This is fine when things are going smoothly you act upon the messages and the emotions go away. However often through life our emotions are not responded to and therefore the body sends physical symptoms, and until we act on these symptoms they get louder and louder to warn you that something in your life needs to be done.

For example, imagine you have not eaten since breakfast and it is fast approaching 8pm. What emotions might your body send to you? Your body sends you clear messages with rumbling, faintness, and feelings of hunger. As the head ignores these feelings the rumbles will get louder and louder. When the head finally listens to the body ands acts on this message and we eat, the body stops sending the ‘symptom’ until it is needed again. So you can see that emotions and symptoms come from the body as an important and necessary part of living. And you can see that symptoms will go away when the body sees that our head has understood fully and acted accordingly? So listening to our body is an essential part of being healthy.

In Mickel Therapy the therapist supports sufferers of CFS and fibromyalgia to take the steps necessary to stop their body sending them symptoms. By taking actions based on what their body is telling them, people can cure themselves of the debilitating symptoms and return to normal living.
