Many of my clients that have been diagnosed with Lyme disease have suffered the round robin of consultations with many doctors and other medical professionals.

They arrived with symptoms of severe headaches, swollen glands and extreme fatigue, fever, severe joint pain, ringing in the ears and a slowing of mental acuity that some call “brain fog.” Their physician’s diagnosed depression, Fibromyagia, CFS, a virus, Multiple Sclerosis, or the infamous, “It’s all in your head.” These clients say they have spent years and thousands of dollars consulting doctors before being diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne infection in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This makes it the most common infection from ticks or other insects.

Lyme disease is difficult to diagnose for many reasons. According to the CDC less than 60 percent of people who are bitten by a tick and get Lyme disease actually develop the most common symptoms of the disease.

Most Lyme disease is underreported to county health departments. Often doctors only run one test, the ELISA test, short for enzyme-linked immuno assay to check for Lyme disease. And this test is not a very good one. The ELISA test will miss a minimum of 10% Lyme cases, and another 25 percent of cases show false positives.

The other test for Lyme disease, the Western Blot test is more accurate; however, both tests measure antibodies so if the tests are given too soon for the antibodies to develop you would not have positive result. In order to completely test for Lyme disease, I would recommend having your doctor administer both tests.

If Lyme disease is detected in the early phase, it may be treated with a strong regimen of antibiotics. If Lyme disease is left untreated, it may develop into a chronic condition and compromise your immune system, as well causing joint pains, severe headaches, and other debilitating conditions.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has excellent information on how to protect yourself from tick bites and Lyme disease online at:

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme/index.htm.

If you are experiencing this combination of symptoms, contact your doctor regarding the Lyme disease testing. It may answer a lot of questions and put you on the healing path.

For those with Lyme disease, I would recommend trying an herbal extract called Samento which is made from a Peruvian vine called Uncaria tomentosa, also known as cat's claw, una de gato, and Vilcacora. Samento is made from a rare chemotype of U. tomentosa that is rich in pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POA) and is guaranteed free of tetracyclic oxindole alkaloids (TOA). It is the TOA-free nature of Samento, combined with its POA potency that gives Samento its powerful effectiveness.

Samento has been shown to have liver-protective, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-ulcer, immuno-stimulating/modulating and blood sugar-lowering properties.

Samento is nontoxic, it may be safely taken each day for the long period necessary to completely kill off the Bb bacterium which causes Lyme from your body.

Samento: Cautions

Samento is not for use by persons on immuno suppressive drugs. Also it is not to be used by those who will be having bone marrow or organ transplants. Additionally those with low blood pressure and/or low blood sugar need to use Samento very carefully as it lowers blood pressure and blood sugar. Pregnant and nursing mothers should avoid Samento

If you start taking Samento, use a low dose, 1 drop in water twice daily, and then slowly increase the dosage to 5 drops twice a day. Take the drops on an empty stomach.

It is important to start slowly, as Samento may cause a Herxheimer reaction. This is your body releasing toxins from the microbes killed in your treatment with Samento. Increasing your fiber intake and having lots of water will help to reduce the possibility of a Herxheimer reaction.
