MMA Gym fees, Gym memberships and now the cost of supplements? I知 not going to lie, my freshmen year of college I just got into weight lifting (for mass) and I spent quite a fortune on supplements ranging from pro-hormones, testosterone boosters, estrogen blockers, creatine, and protein. I知 not going to lie, my weight went up and my muscle mass increased like crazy but this is not what a Mixed Martial Artists wants. I値l break it down plain and simple, more muscle mass = more oxygen required = you tire quickly.

Since I致e been training, I dropped almost all my supplements and I just use 3 things.

1. Multi-Pro Whey Isolate Protein (26 g protein) - Post Workout Protein
2. Syntha-6 (23 g protein) - Slow digesting protein. Used before bed and throughout the day
3. Multivitamin

Many people seem to not know what protein really does or how to really use it optimally. Protein is basically the repair agent for your muscles, tissues and organs. It痴 also said to aid in the recovery of your muscles.

Whey ProteinWhey protein is a post workout protein, which will digest quickly and get right to work. I believe the best time to drink a whey protein shake is within a 2 hour window after working out. I try to have at

least 2 Syntha 6 shakes, one when I wake up and when before I go to bed. Syntha 6 is opposite from whey, it breaks down more slowly than whey. The multi-vitamins just gives you the vitamins that you may miss from what you eat.

This stuff is expensive!

The specific whey protein I have cost about 50 bucks for 5 pounds, which will last you a few months. I bought my whey protein at a local supplement shop (small business). I would suggest going to small store rather than GNC, because their products are way overpriced. I think any whey protein will do the job.

Syntha-6 is pretty expensive, it can cost up to 40 bucks for only 2.91 lbs. The cheapest I price for syntha-6 is from Mass Nutrition. It costs 21.95 and shipping depending where you are can cost 8-10 dollars. Last week I bought 2 things of syntha 6 and it all cost about 52 bucks with shipping (there was a 19.95 special).

This article is to give you some in sight of what I知 taking to supplement my training. I知 in no way a nutritionist and I知 not telling you that this is the what you have to do. This is just what I do, it痴 up to you to do further research and see what works best for you.
