There is so much conflicting information on how to lose fat and such a vast number of diets available that it is often difficult to determine which method is the most effective. While many of the diets available may be effective in the beginning, they may sometimes be unhealthy or ineffective in the long term. By depriving the body of certain nutrients, a number of those "fad" diets will often result in quick, short term weight and or fat loss. However, as eating habits return to normal, it may be regained. The best way to lose fat permanently is through sensible changes in diet and exercise. The following are simple strategies to help burn fat.

Eat 4-6 small meals per day. This will prevent hunger as well as keep your metabolism and energy levels high.

Increase aerobic activity. The longer your workout, the more calories you burn, the faster your body will reach

fat stores.

Don't starve yourself. This slows your metabolism and makes it more difficult to lose weight.

Eat a balanced meal of proteins, carbs and fats. This will prevent the body from storing fat.

Drink more water. It helps you feel more full and helps digestion.

Eat until your full, not stuffed. Keep portions under control.

Choose the right carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and beans are high in fiber.

Include regular weight training. Weight training three times per week can increase muscle. More muscle results in more calorie burn.

Exercise in the mornings. Glycogen stores are depleted when you first wake up so the body has not choice but to burn fat. In addition, it speeds up the metabolism for the entire day.

Reward yourself. One splurge per week is acceptable but make sure the next day you return to proper eating habits.
