Since the advent of the personal computer and network technology genealogy research by family members has become an addictive pastime that has contributed to many happy reunions while others have discovered family members they never knew they had the world over.

Added to the fun and excitement of traveling from state to state to meet with long time friends and loved ones is the new trend of combining family reunion events with exotic vacation plans and you have a billion dollar industry worth looking into.

How are home business entreprenuers capitalizing from this growing industry? As family reunion groups grow and events become more sophisticated, planning a reunion becomes a more challenging task. Enter the professional family planner.

Mark Askew, founder of Fimark’s Family Reunion Planner found at http://family-reunion-planner.fimark.net, a site dedicated to family reunion planning, says “Since the 1990’s family reunion planning has become a virtual industry in itself. People want to grow from a picnic in the park to a three or four day event. Many experienced family reunion organizers have decided to capitalize on the growing demand."

Many families prefer to keep the planning in the family. To that end family reunion committee are

formed and several meetings in the year are had to organize and execute action items. For these a harvest of reunion planning information has been made available by a growing number of family reunion planning websites.

In addition family reunion planners value the networking involved in planning a vacation, retreat or city tour. Planners must shop bargains, assure travel agencies, party suppliers, photographers, cake decorators, cruise lines of future business. To that end many planners have seen growth in family reunion planning referral services. These companies take advantage of referral commissions to fund reunion committee members needs. Many reunion planners have decided to go into the planning business for themselves, thus cutting expenses when planning their own event.

Experienced planners have opened up shop online to share their experience and know how for a fee. Event planners can earn as much as $1000 or more per client on referral commissions alone.

That said, many family reunion committee members have discovered that family reunion planning can be a lucrative business in and of itself.
