Grief is a funny thing. It can hang around for a very long time, affecting various parts of our life, waiting until it is time to be released. The timing is different for different people. Sometimes people will tell you that you should be over your grief and getting on with life. You have to decide for yourself what is right...

Sometimes you think you have dealt with your grief and that you are fine, and then it hits you right between the eyes and you realize that it's just been lurking in the corner, waiting to be discovered.

That's what happened to me recently. My dad died in March 1999 and it was February 2005 before grief finally found me, shook me and left me alone.

Villiers Andrew Morgan Durnford June 10, 1921 - March 3, 1999

Six years have passed since you've been gone and left us here to carry on. Wasn't it yesterday we laughed til we cried? how can it be six years since you died?

We miss your teasing, we miss your

smile sometimes it seems you've just gone out for a while The memories still linger there, the puzzles played, the fun we'd share, the nights by the fire as we talked and played, the times we sat silent and nothing was said.

You knew you were leaving, you had a plan, you wanted to leave while still a man. Your spirit and your faith were always strong and many followed and were carried along by your gifts of kindess, of love and of caring. No matter what you had, you had no problem sharing.

I miss you daddy, I always will and I will be your "Princess" still. My brother stands so much like you, his heart is good and he cares too. Our little sis has carried the load of caring for us, the truth be told. And mom is the centre of all our lives now we count on her wisdom, her love...and how. She's always thinking and sharing with us, never complaining or making a fuss. We still can't believe six years have flown since you left us here to carry on.
