Toxic mold can be a nightmare! If you have experienced mold problems you know what I mean. Toxic mold black mold or Stachybotrys chartarum can pose serious health risks. Mold normally occurs outdoors and is a necessary part of the food chain if it wasn't for mold we would be up to our ears in decayed matter. The problem is when the mold comes indoors.
The best defense against this mold problem is to not let black mold have a home to breed in. Mold spores are all around we carry them into our homes on a regular basis they are in the air. If there is no place for the mold spores to set up shop your home will be safe from a black mold outbreak. The main priority to protect your home from toxic mold is to stop moisture problem. If you have leaky pipes fix them, a leaking roof fix it. Inspect you pipes if there are signs of condensation this
may be enough moisture to harbor mold growth. It is best to try and solve these problems within a forty-eight hour period.
If even after preventative measures are taken or if your moisture problem was hidden and you are faced with an overgrowth of mold the next step should be a mold test kit. You can find these test kits at most hardware stores. These kits will give you an idea of the air quality and possible toxic mold growth on your home. If you indeed do have a mold problem you should assess the situation. Can you tackle this mold remediation task on your own? This is a question only you can answer. If you are unsure a mold remediation professional is probably you best option. If you plan on tackling this task yourself be sure to protect yourself with the proper gloves goggles and respirator. It is important to note if the moisture problem is not solved the mold will just grow back.
