Thanks to WordPress and a guy from Singapore I get to keep my hair, plus now I can get on with Blogging without having to learn another computer language like php. Oh and believe me I’ve talked to my computer in a language I couldn’t repeat here.

A few months back I decided to get in one this thing called Blogging. Of course I had no idea what Blogging meant but everyone was talking about like it’s the next biggest thing on the Internet.

As I began to research Blogging I quickly realised that this is a fabulous way for none programmers to have their say on the Internet without the need to know any computer language. It seemed all you had to do was type & click and BAM! Your message is ready for the world to see and you can do this as often or as little as you like.

So I decided to go for it and set-up my own Blog. I didn’t quite know what I wanted to say, but what I did find from my research was probably the best package to use for my Blog is WordPress. The guys at wordpress.org are brilliant; they provide all the download files, a quick and simple 5-minute installation guide and support via forums, all for free!

I must admit I struggled with the installation some bit, but after wading through the support forums and playing around with the MySQL settings in the control panel of Host4Profit web hosting account I managed to get WordPress up and running.

After finalising the set-up and filling some blanks I managed to post my first Blog, Whoopee! It felt like I just had won the lottery.

I spent the next day or so poking around in the admin section of my blog trying to get familiar with all the features it had to offer. Somewhere quite obvious, others I wasn’t too sure about and then there were some features that didn’t seem to have anything to do with Blogging. It became clear to me that I need some direction and help on how to make best use of my Blog.

So I headed back to the forums for some answers, only to wind up more confused. I was still missing something I wasn’t quite getting it. Then one day, as if I requested it, there it was, what seemed to be the perfect solution sitting in my inbox. It look just like another Solo Ad waiting for me to delete it, but when I saw the word WordPress I had to read on.

The link on the email took me to a web site by a guy called Brandon Hung from Singapore. Brandon had put together hours of video clips on how to get the most out of WordPress. Not only did he cover getting set-up with WordPress (which I could have done with before I started) but everything you’d every need to know on how to get the best out of it.

For me, it’s like having my very own WordPress mentor with me 24/7 only he’ll never get tired of me asking the same old questions over & over, I simply replay whatever video clip I want, when I want. I don’t even have to worry about keeping up with changes in the world of Blog; I know Brandon will cover them in his monthly video updates.

I really must say a BIG THANKS the guys at WordPress and to Brandon Hong!

Warm regards,

Jeremiah O'Connell
