Have you ever been sound asleep on a weeknight, trying to get restful sleep before having to return to yet another stressful day on the job, and have the shrill sound of the telephone startle you awake in the middle of the night? You reach over and pick up the receiver, only to discover that it is a prank caller.
Irritated, to say the least, you slam the phone back down and try to get back to sleep while you wonder what you have to do to put a stop to such a nuisance.
So how do you stop prank callers?
We've all received prank calls. In some cases, they are merely one-time annoyances. For other people, prank calls are downright harassment.
One solution may be to hire a private investigator. But while they may be able to stop the harassing calls, it will most likely end up costing you hundreds of dollars just to find out the identity of the person who owns the phone from which the calls were placed. Another alternative is to use one of the free sites that offer reverse phone number lookups. However, the majority of those services only provide information on public landline numbers and the majority of prank calls come from private listings.
There are services available that provide information on cell phone, unlisted and landline numbers. Most allow unlimited access to hundreds of millions of records for a one time fee.
Some of the services also include advanced tools such as free search assistance and access to expanded people search database records which even includes family member information. It's very simple to use and all that is required is to enter an area code and seven digit phone number. This will allow you to access the owner's phone number, name and address. With this information, you should be able to put an end to the pranks calls.
Now that you have identified the caller, there are several alternatives to how you may deal with your caller. One is to wait until you receive the next call and address them by name. Once they are aware that you know who they are, the nuisance calls will most likely end.
If the caller continues the harassment, you now have the information needed to contact the police and file a complaint. It is rare that you will have to resort to such extreme measures. Most prank callers will stop once they are made aware that their identity is known.
In order to put an end to harassing calls, you first need information and the best place to find it is through a comprehensive, reliable service.
