Generally, there are three main speeches in a wedding reception. The first is the father’s speech, something that most of us forget. Secondly will be the bridegroom’s speech, then it comes to the best man’s speech.

Father’s speech

The brides father should be called upon by the best man to propose a toast to both the bride and the bridegroom. But before doing that, relatives and close friends ar to say a few simple words of the bride. Then the brides father will appreciate the bride in words and followed by the toast.

Bridegroom’s speech

The bridegroom will take the opportunity to thank their parents on the years they were brought up for the love and care, and also for the blessings they receive from them. If there are members in the family or close friends that are unable to attend your wedding, you should mention them and wish them a speedy recovery. Lastly, appreciate those great helpers that have help you through the day for a job well done.

Best man’s speech

It is important that the best man’s speech to be light hearted and fun. It is suppose to be the most interesting part in the whole event with humour and stories to tell. Here is an example:

“I am honoured to be the best man. I like to thank John for his kind words.

John was born in the year of great human achievements, first man on the moon, the first concorde to be flown, and thus influence John to be an astronaut, though he did not make it due to no rockets in Singapore. And his hero, the six million dollar man. And so he became a pilot, not too far from being an astronaut. John was a success in everything he did. But is he all such a goodie two shoes. During the younger days, John stole the car keys from his Dad and drove around the street, in the end he knock the car on to the neighbors gate. Yep, everyone of you in this ballroom would probably think that he is such an irresponsible kid, but that was just a BMX bicycle.”

Something like that will cheer the audience up and follow by some games they have planned.
