Problem: How to have the talk without embarrassing myself?

Adam: “Having the talk” is not hard if you keep a few things in mind. The phrase is a common reference to discussing relationship issues. Most partners are petrified of these three words. This ought not be the case if you look at it as an important way to resolve relationship problems.

In fact the main reason why so many relationships run into trouble is because partners don't have the talk and expect everything is going to magically disappear into thin air. What then happens is these problems breed on each other and later blow-up in fights.

From now on set 30 minutes a week to having the talk. Make sure it is at a time when both are cool headed. Immediately after work or a fight is not the most appropriate chance. A better time would be on a weekend when both are not working.

Even better have the talk in a romantic setting. This will make both of you to be more lighter and considerate of each other. Give each other ample opportunity to explain themselves without interruptions. Listen and try to find solutions. Avoid trying to adopt a defensive stance.

With a bit of practice you will begin to enjoy talking to each other. Even better you will find that it is a much better way of resolving your relationship problems.
