Truth always rests with the minority, and the minority is always stronger than the majority, because the minority is generally formed by those who really have an opinion, while the strength of a majority is illusory, formed by the gangs who have no opinion—and who, therefore, in the next instant (when it is evident that the minority is the stronger) assume its opinion ... while truth again reverts to a new minority.
I know this to be true (at least in part), and perhaps this is why I am so fascinated with truth. In raising my children, I have to say, I noticed how painful and difficult "telling the truth" is for children. Believe me, my children were no different from any other children in this respect.
We live in a "dog eat dog world" and part of this mentality stems from dishonesty and liars. It takes courage to tell the truth and to stand up for what is true. It is not "the popular thing to do." When we stand up for what is true, it seems so often our efforts go unappreciated; yet at the same time, we need to take courage and be strong.
To be part of this truthful minority (as brought out in the quote), we need to set our priorities straight. If we can put our insecurities aside, and truthfully assess a situation and stand by our beliefs (in spite of what others may think), truth will prevail!
