The New Year is practically knocking at the door. All you need is to take a few steps to open the door and let it in. Are you ready? Let’s see what you should do to be prepared to greet that which gives us a clean slate once a year. Why, the New Year, of course!

So, here’s what you need:

1. Your New Year’s Resolutions

If you haven’t learnt how to do this yet, there is still time. This list should be written in such a way that they will work for you (see my article: 7 Reasons Why New Year's Resolutions Don't Work).

Also, follow the formula: ”I will + wishes + due date.” Remember that you need to think positively about them, and be grateful even before you have received them.

2. Your Goals list

This is the list in which you are setting for the incoming year. Here, you follow the same steps suggested for the Resolutions, only now your goals are not really dreams or wishes. They are practical and more or less realistic (always remember to leave room for improvement and changes, if they become necessary, not to mention the little miracles that may come your way).

Think about Prosperity -- your business or job, bank accounts, etc.; Health – exercise, nutrition, etc.; Relationships – family, friends, etc., and Lifestyle—hobbies, fun and recreation, etc. You can add more categories, of course, such as community service, for example.

3. Your Gratitude List

This is a list in which you write all the positive and negative aspects of your life during 2005. Actually, you make two lists, one for each. You will write with appreciation all that happened to you, and then give a reason why, explaining what you have learned from the lesson.

The positive list you also appreciate and keep; the negative, you let it go and burn. You can make a little ritual of this burning if you wish. It works beautifully.

Voilà! You are all set for the New Year and the great thing that will happen for you.

Of course, you need to have it all ready before midnight. I would like to suggest you start immediately, as the listing may take longer to write than you think. Also, start a tradition of wearing white in the New Year. It gives you a peaceful and joyous feeling. And, as you know, there is nothing better than feeling good.

Happy New Year!
