Positive Attitude article : The Easy Button

I am having so much fun with the new “Easy Button” marketing campaign from Staples Office Supplies! I especially like the commercial where the teacher asks a student to answer a difficult question and the child reaches under his desk to push the “Easy Button” while the announcer says, “Don’t you wish you had an “Easy button?”

When I walked into my local Staples several days later, I was excited when I discovered a display case full of “Easy Buttons!” When you press the “Easy Button” the voice says, “That was easy,” just like in the commercials!

The “Easy Button” comes with the following instructions:

Step 1. Identify a difficult situation

Step 2. Press the Easy button

Step 3. Listen to the reassuring message

Step 4. Smile and get on with your day

Step 5. Repeat as often as necessary

Little does Staples know, but this “Easy Button” has become part of my spiritual journey. As I “mentally” push the “Easy Button,” I hear the reassuring message from within saying “This can be easy”…if you allow it.”

When I am not in the flow, life doesn’t feel so “easy.” The tiniest thing can make me feel impatient and I begin to judge, blame and criticize myself and others. I become overwhelmed and frustrated. Feeling frustrated is a sure sign that I have stopped the flow of energy. When the flow of energy is stopped, it usually means I’ve gotten myself tangled up in the problem and out of the “Divine flow.”

When I am in the

“Divine flow,” life IS easy. I feel connected, I am present in my physical body, time flows perfectly and ideas come when I need them. Life is “in sync.”

We all have an “Easy Button” and an inner reassuring voice that reminds us: “This situation can be easy if I let go, stop struggling and change my perception.” When we change our perception, we can relax, open up and can get back in the “Divine flow.” When we change our perception and stop wrestling with the problem, the energy of the situation changes and suddenly we “just know” a solution. We receive the perfect guidance, help and support needed in that moment.

We all have access to making whatever situation we are dealing with “easy.” We just need to listen and be aware of the reassuring message from within.
