Most people are afraid of drowning which makes a lot of sense, but it also is problematic as many people do not wish to learn how to swim, which can be even worse. Most people who drown do not know how to swim and never learned probably due to the fear of drowning. It is for this very reason that you should learn how to swim, tread water and do various types of swimming strokes. My mother would have been an Olympic Swimmer, as she was on the Olympic Team until she got pregnant with me and had to quit. So I feel that it is my duty to help others not to be afraid of the water and to think about learning to swim or swim better if you already know how, so that you can either save someone someday from drowning or save yourself if need be.

As we look at the biggest natural disasters that we face living on the surface of the planet where two-thirds is covered with water, we see that most of the deaths caused by Mother Nature are once from flooding. Now someone who was a really good swimmer stands a much better chance of swimming over to something that is floating or over to a tree or something to hang onto right? This year alone Hurricane deaths have taken the lives of over 15,000 people, most all of which died not from falling debris, but they drowned.

So if you will take some swimming lessons and become proficient you will be able to survive if this ever becomes an issue and better yet you will be able to save someone else near you at the same time. I would like you to consider this, as it is good to conquer your fears and even smarter to be prepared for anything. Think on this.
