The single question that I’m asked more often than any other is this:

“What can I do today that will immediately put me on the road for success?”

And, I always answer, "Put PDQ into your day."

PDQ stands for:

Panache

Determination

Quality

And, it goes a little somethin’ like this!

panache (puh-NASH), Dash or flamboyance in manner or style.

Do you stand out in a crowd? Do you have a certain style? Do you maintain a business acumen that commands respect among your peers? Your management?

It’s a lot easier than it seems. Panache begins with how you look. Do your clothes tell people you are a serious businessperson on your way to the top?

Don’t step out the door looking less than your best. When you do, you’re telling the world that you really don’t care about how you look and the assumption is; you don’t care about the job you do.

How about your manner of style? Do you treat everyone you meet with respect and courtesy? This includes the janitor who empties your waste paper basket along with the receptionist who answers the calls. Regardless of stature, everyone deserves to be treated with your best manners. Make it a habit, and it will change your life.

Summary:

Dress the part. It’s been said a million times and bears repeating “Don’t dress for the job you have, dress for the job you want.”

Treat everyone with the respect you’d give to the CEO of your company.

Don’t be afraid to standout in the crowd. Those who blend in get left on the sidelines.

determination (de-tur-men-ashun), Firmness of purpose; resolve: approached the task with determination and energy.

Do you view your employment as a job or a career? Are you at work to accomplish great things, or just there to collect a paycheck?

There are vast differences between success driven individuals and

those just coasting along.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." -- Calvin Coolidge

Determination is the difference that separates the successful from the mundane.

Resolve to approach EVERY task with all the fervor you are capable.

That’s how way successful people attack every task (every time)—with determination.

Summary:

Begin everyday with determination.

Have the unwavering belief that you can accomplish anything.

Don’t let anything stop you—ever!

quality (kwa-lidie), degree of excellence

Stop for a moment and think about the degree of excellence with which you leave every task. Do you always believe you’ve done the best job you can do? The best job anyone can do?

Quality is the mantra of every successful individual. Every communication, document, email, voice mail message should be addressed with the highest level of quality you can provide.

"A professional is someone who can do his best work when he doesn't feel like it" --Alistair Cooke

Providing quality work consistently will give you a quick reputation for being the right one for the job; and, the right one for promotion.

You have a choice. You can provide quality or not. Autograph your work with quality, and you won't be sorry..

Summary:

Attack every task by providing the greatest level of quality you are capable of.

Be consistent in providing quality.

Put PDQ into your day—everyday. You’ll see your career take off and you’ll find success pretty darned quick.
