Time is a precious commodity that we want more of to do the things we enjoy and to make more money. But are you letting time sucking activities that don’t pay to take over your life? For entrepreneurs wasting time on meaningless things could mean a deteriorating business and no money to pay the mortgage. It’s about time we cut this bad habit and take back control of our time.

Time sucking activities could be anything from watching too much TV, reading entertainment articles and celebrity gossip, checking your email 100 times a day, browsing forums without a purpose just to kill time, browsing stores and window shopping, playing online games all day and night etc.

Sometimes it’s fun to do those things once in a while but spending hours and hours a day on it is too excessive. At the end of the day we might wonder where did all the day go and have a bunch of things left undone. Stop putting things off because they’re not as fun as checking email or playing games. If you read entertainment magazines and play games for 3 years you’ll be in the same situation you’re in. These meaningless time sucking activities are costing you big bucks.

Make a list of things you will do less of each day or eliminate. Write down next to it approximately how much time you’ll save by eliminating or reducing the time you spent on it. Tally up the totals for a week, you might be surprised to see the results of how much time you waste. Don’t make excuses about why you don’t have time-make time. We all have time for the important stuff, just cut out the useless chitchats and online chatting.

What are your priorities? Is it your religion, family, and business? If you’re not finding time to spend on things that matter then its time that you rearranged your life around. Ask yourself, “How can I spend more times with the kids and spouse?” Many people think that watching TV with their family in the same room is spending time together. That is not quality time together. Plan a fun evening whether it’s taking the family out to dinner, helping the kids with homework, or playing board games together.

If your life is too hectic or stressful then you haven’t gotten time management done pat. Read up on new strategies to manage your time and apply it. Do unpleasant and important things first. Don’t put off things that will cause you stress or worry. Do it and get it done now. It’ll be a big weight off your shoulders not having a ticking time bomb around.
