With all the video game systems around today, it must be a daunting task to create something new and exciting that will bring in "big bucks." While deciding whether or not the PSP does this is opinion, it is safe to say that SONY has, at the very least, unleashed a worthy adversary to Nintendo's DS.

Firstly, SONY has utilized some of the world's most sophisticated portable technology with the PSP. The PSP incorporates various diverse input/output connectors, such as USB 2.0, and Wireless Fidelity LAN, both of which can be used to connect to various devices. The display proves to be quite exhilarating, a beefy 4.3 inch, 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD. The system utilizes dual 333 MhZ processors; processors that nearly rival the PlayStation 2.

Secondly, the PSP offers a wide, diverse collection of games to choose from. Role-Players and First Person Shooter fans unite under the supreme rule of the PSP. Many best-selling titles from the PlayStation 2 make an appearance on the PSP. Dynasty Warriors, Grand Theft Auto, Katamari Damacy, and HotShots Golf all can be played on the road with the help of a friendly PSP.

Finally, the price of the PSP seems to be its only downfall. Whereas PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube only cost $150 and $100 respectively, the SONY PSP costs a whopping $250. Each game, packaged as a UMD (Universal Multimedia Disc) costs upwards of $30 new. Some games even reach a high limit of $50, which may be a bit pricey for those needing a quick fix during Gym Class. SONY has disclosed that they are planning a price drop on the PSP in time for Christmas.
