This award is presented to businesses and residences in Williamsburg, Virginia that exemplify a commitment to preservation and beautification of the Williamsburg community. Vice-Mayor Clyde Haulman was on hand along with members of the Planning Commission to present innkeepers, Sandi and Steve Zareski, with the coveted award. Each year the City of Williamsburg accepts nominations from its citizens for the City of Williamsburg Beautification Awards program. Boxwood Inn of Williamsburg has been nominated for this award several times since Sandi and Steve bought and renovated the property in 2000, but this is the first time it has been honored with the award.

The Williamsburg Bed and Breakfast at 708 Richmond Road underwent extensive interior and exterior renovations during 2000. Some of the visible (exterior) enhancements included widespread landscaping with perennial and annual gardens, and installation of brick and stone walkways. The end result was a magnificent transformation of a house and property to a Bed and Breakfast that is full of life and brimming with color.

In 2003, an addition was built onto the back of the bed and breakfast. This addition, the Washington Carriage House, is one of the most impressive suites in Williamsburg and has become the Inn’s most popular destination. The enchanting retreat, a favorite of Williamsburg wedding planners, is isolated from the main house and is ideal for a Williamsburg honeymoon, anniversary, or special occasion. It is impeccably decorated and features a King-size canopy bed, Jacuzzi tub for two, and gas fireplace.

Local residents, passersby and out-of-town guests have made favorable comments about the appearance of the property over the years. Some of their guests have even expressed their hopes that one day this B&B would win an award.

Sandi and Steve take great pride in Boxwood Inn of Williamsburg Bed and Breakfast. They are native Virginians and absolutely love Williamsburg. They enjoy sharing experiences with visitors from all over the world. Sandi was in the banking industry for 25 years and Steve has worked for Government Contractors for the past 27 years. Their interests include gardening, antiquing, fitness, and playing with their two Pugs, Scooter and Lucy.
