Roses are a romantic gift no matter how they are given. Did you know that back in more romantic times the color or arrangement of a gift of roses held hidden symbolic meanings? They did! The number of roses and how open they are has a special code. One red rose signifies simplicity. A bud indicates a new love. A fully opened rose is a declaration of love or engagement. Two roses joined together can also mean engagement. Of course, the ultimate declaration of true love is a dozen red roses!

And finally, be aware of how you wear or accept a gift of roses. If you accept with your right hand, it means you agree. With your left, you disagree. If you wear a rose over your heart, it means love, but if you wear it in your hair it means caution.
