It is the holiday season so instead of focusing on the negative--i.e. writer’s block,
bad habits, obstacles, and so on—my gift to you is identifying 5 good
habits for your writing success. Start the New Year with a positive outlook and
believe that you WILL write your great book in 90 days or less…
- Fantastic well organized work area. I saw your writing work area and
it looked great. It had all the right tools for you to write a book. The telephone was
unplugged and the television off. Your favorite music was playing. All your
research and notes were well organized and by your side so that you could easily
find something. You had a special corner of the room devoted to writing. I noticed
that you had finished the first chapter of your book. Doesn’t that feel great?
- You have an Action Plan all set up. Congratulations you set up an
Action Plan so that you know how long it will take to finish your book. You’ve
estimated how many pages you can type per week. Sometimes you’ve even devoted
a weekend to writing and promised yourself, “I will finish one chapter this weekend.”
Isn’t it amazing how much we accomplish when we write a goal and follow through
with it?
- You scheduled your writing time in your appointment book. I am
impressed. Your calendar/appointment book was near your desk and you marked
off the days and times that you are scheduled to write. Keep those appointments
with yourself and in no time you will finish your writing project.
- You have terrific writing habits. I noticed that you are committed to
writing almost every day. Sometimes you can
only write for less than 20 minutes,
but most of the time you can put a good hour into it. You follow your appointment
book and make notes of the actual time and number of pages you wrote that day.
(That’s why I know how much you have been writing. Great job!)
- You enjoyed a writing day in the park. Didn’t it feel good to sit under
a tree in the park, listen to the birds, and write your great book? Yes, I heard that
you had a touch of that nasty virus, Writer’s Block. Writers get that a lot. Yet, you
didn’t let it get you down. You changed your regular writing routine and took it to
the park. Now you are writing again—the virus has disappeared. Isn’t that terrific?
Keep on writing you are almost done.
Happy New Year terrific writer! Have a fantastic writing year.
